You won’t be going hungry or thirsty, that’s for sure.Terror behind the walls launches an assault on all five senses with intricate lighting, a 3-D experience through a psychotic clown’s lair, shifting floor tiles, and even unsettling smells of gasoline and fire. Plus, the performances from the actors are truly intense. For a more immersive experience, you can opt in to allow the actors to grab you, send you down secret passageways, and even separate you from your group. The coolest part? They turned Al Capone’s actual prison cell into a speakeasy – even if it’s for VIP tickets only.

The massive Eastern State Penitentiary located in the Fairmount neighborhood of Philadelphia is a famous attraction for its annual Halloween Nights haunted house. Halloween Nights comprises 15 different attractions, including 5 different haunted houses from not so scary to very scary. And if you’d rather sip on a beverage or in between getting spooked, there is also a beer garden and bar on site. If you want less scary things to do, there will live performances and an immersive walk through experience of the historic penitentiary.

Lauded as the best haunted house experience in Philadelphia, Terror Behind the Walls Eastern State Penitentiary is a Halloween attraction located in a historic — and allegedly haunted — prison that was in operation between 1829 and 1971 and has a truly dark history. Now, the building hosts one of the premiere Halloween destinations every October. The Halloween Nights event consists of fifteen attractions, including four frightening haunted houses, one psychedelic immersive walk-through experience, three entertaining live and interactive performances, four themed bars and lounges and three opportunities to explore the penitentiary’s cell blocks. In addition, an educational narration by actor Steve Buscemi is offered to visitors as a way to provide historical perspective on the penitentiary!
