A beautiful nature center situated right in the heart of Pennypack Park, PEC hosts events all-year round to help people truly enjoy and embrace the beauty of the area. From wildlife walks to after school adventures, the Pennypack Environmental Center helps keep the area looking its best, through incentives to plant more trees and seeds, clean up trash, and protect the local wildlife. Autumn and Winter are often fun times for visitors, who can take part in Halloween and holiday related programs, while volunteers look to enrich the experiences in ways that benefit the environment and promote a real sense of community.

The Environmental Justice Initiative was founded to help ensure that all Philadelphia residents have a healthy community and access to clean air and water, healthy and culturally appropriate foods, and homes that can withstand the ever-changing demands of the climate. The team has years of experience in understanding industrial agriculture, toxic waste, and enforcing environmental laws. EJI supports local planning networks as well as finding ways to get directly involved with local communities and ensure that everyone has access to things many of us take for granted.

Working towards their mission of transforming the power of ideas and imagination into change that makes our world greener and healthier, PennEnvironment has been on the front lines of the fight for a greener Pennsylvania since 2002. In that time, they have led fights against polluters in court by filing dozens of lawsuits to compel polluters to lower their emissions — resulting in over $250 million in court-ordered penalties. They have also worked on the local level to help protect Pennsylvania’s natural areas and public lands through campaigns to educate the public about the risks they face. At the heart of much of what PennEnvironment does is education, founded in their belief that everyday people can make the greatest impact!
