Omar Ali was a 2019 recipient of The Lindback Foundation Distinguished Teaching Award and continues to shine as a dedicated teacher at Northeast High. Ali teaches video game development, web design, and communications technology and holds multiple industry certifications. An engaging teacher, he works to get students interested in STEM.

Matthew Kay is an English teacher at Science Leadership Academy, a high school offering a college-preparatory curriculum that focuses on science, technology, mathematics, and entrepreneurship. A product of The School District of Philadelphia, Kay is one of SLA’s founding teachers and the athletic director and varsity boys basketball coach. Kay is also the founder and coordinator of the PYPM Slam League, which hosts slam poetry competitions for youth across Philadelphia. Kay graduated from Saul High School, West Chester University, and PennWest California, and is the published author of Not Light, But Fire.
