From the cool, prevailing heads of the Philadelphia Film Society and its embrace of movie theaters and drive-in opportunities in the area came the 30th annual Philadelphia Film Festival. The annual festival is the proud host of world and local live, in-cinema premieres and places an emphasis on booking name-above-the-title celebrity guests such as “Clerks” director/writer Kevin Smith. While some cinephiles may prefer Cannes or Venice, Metro knows that Philly’s fest is just as good and twice as close. With over 25,000 film aficionados in attendance throughout this 11-day world-class festival, over 100 films are presented in the effort to demonstrate how Philadelphia supports the business of filmmaking!
