Coach Blackwell enters the school year as the Philadelphia HS for Girls track and field head coach for the sixth season. Beloved by his students, Coach Blackwell is an encouraging and motivating coach, dedicated to helping his students succeed on and off the track. With many strong performances from underclassmen in the 2022-23 school year, the Girls’ High team looks to have a strong 2023-24 season.

Carl Arrigale is the head coach of boys basketball at Saints Neumann Goretti High School. Arrigale has been with the school since 1992, beginning as an assistant coach and promoted to head coach in 1999. Since then, Arrigale has helped the Saints post a 500-117 record, and has led them to 12 Philadelphia Catholic League titles and nine PIAA Class AAA state titles. Arrigale has coached a number of high-level college basketball stars, including Rick Jackson, Scoop Jardine, Daniel Stewart, Troy Harper, and D.J. Rivera, and is known to be the most successful coach in Catholic League history.

Since taking over as head coach in November 2014, Andrea Peterson has led the Saints Neumann Goretti girls basketball team to multiple winning seasons. Her first season at the helm of the team was especially challenging because her predecessor resigned just before the start of the season, inheriting the lofty expectations of leading a team widely considered No. 1 in the country. That season, the team went on to win the school’s first PIAA Class AA girls’ state basketball championship by handily defeating defending state champion Seton-La Salle 79-34. While Peterson gave all the credit to the team’s 22-0 start that season to the players when interviewed, players said they wouldn’t be where they were without “Coach Petey.”
